Weekend screening: Marilena Preda Sânc, ‘Bodyscape, Handscape, Mindscape’

11 July 2020

On the occasion of our inaugural online exhibition, Resilience Test: Marilena Preda Sânc, the artist’s film Bodyscape, Handscape, Mindscape (1993) will screen online for 48 hours from Saturday, July 11, 7:00 a.m (EEST) to Monday, July 13.

Watch it here.

Beginning with the early 1990s, Marilena Preda Sânc expanded her means of expression to include video as a way to create “paintings in motion” and to further explore issues related to gender identity.

“Bodyscape, Handscape, Mindscape consists of metaphorical images resulted from superposing two or three pictures and a filmed projection on my body. It is a video poem based on a performance during which I’m writing words on my face and projecting slides on my face and body.” – Marilena Preda Sânc

Resilience Test: Marilena Preda Sânc is the first in a series of three online exhibitions that will explore the limits of the body, its vulnerability and its resilience, through the works of three artists from different generations and sociopolitical contexts: Marilena Preda Sânc (29 June – 19 July), Vlatka Horvat (20 July – 9 August) and Ištvan Išt Huzjan (10 – 30 August).

The project is financed by the Ministry of Culture through ACCES Online 2020 program. Partners: Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia and Embassy of the Republic of Croatia. Media partners: Radio România Cultural, Revista ARTA and Zeppelin.
