VIDEO: Inside Sebastian Moldovan’s exhibition, on the occasion of NAG 2021
“I’ve accumulated a series of experiences that I wanted to tackle one way or the other”, says Sebastian Moldovan in a video produced on the occasion of Noaptea Albă a Galeriilor 2021 (White Night of the Art Galleries), an online-only edition in Bucharest.
The artist talks about anchoring his work in personal experiences and offers several insights into the making of his recent exhibition at Gaep, Spacetime’s a Wastin’ – from the interventions that were born out of fortunate accidents, to some of the laborious installations that populated the basement of the gallery.
“One of the works in the exhibition that I feel quite attached to is my climbing on the walls of the gallery from its deepest point up to the first floor without touching the floor. Thanks to the time l had to work on site, I manufactured the climbing holds, affixed them on the walls where it was needed, learned every move and then had myself filmed while climbing”, explains Moldovan.
Spacetime’s a Wastin’ was his third exhibition at the gallery, following The Uncanny Within (2017) and / and / You Never Know What’s Off (2015).
