‘Resilience Test’: our first online exhibitions
We are delighted to announce Resilience Test, a series of three online exhibitions that will explore the limits of the body, its vulnerability and its resilience, through the works of Marilena Preda Sânc (29 June – 19 July), Vlatka Horvat (20 July – 9 August) and Ištvan Išt Huzjan (10 – 30 August).
The exhibitions are open in a new virtual space on our website, Viewing Rooms, which allows viewers to engage with art wherever they are and offers curated selections of works, alongside relevant context for them.
“The first three online exhibitions presented by Gaep reflect the gallery’s interest in researching the relations between artistic practices that emerged in different temporal, geopolitical and economic contexts. This is the framework in which we should understand the online presentations of Marilena Preda Sânc, Vlatka Horvat and Ištvan Išt Huzjan, artists from different generations whose work is connected by their shared interest in re-examining resilience and the sociopolitical role of the body.” – Tevž Logar, curator
In the inaugural exhibition, we present a selection of collages, paintings and video performances from the 1980s to the early 1990s by the acclaimed artist Marilena Preda Sânc. Resilience Test: Marilena Preda Sânc follows the artist’s award-winning 2019 exhibition Subjective (De)Constructions at Gaep, which received the Radio România Cultural Prize, Visual Arts category.
