“There is nobody that loves painting more than me.

I must subjugate my obsession for color and control it under the cognitive cage of drawing.

I can pretend to push my viewer to the edge of the cliff, but they have to jump off themselves.

I’m not a killer, I’m just a bored painter.

Conceptualising painting is like adding parmigiano on top of spaghetti with vongole. Unnecessary.“

At the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich “I was part of a group of students that were maybe more ambitious than others. They were working with photography, video and installation, so we often argued for our mediums of expression. That’s why my approach to painting is not as conventional as one might expect. It has a digital flavor, it encapsulates a vocabulary related to different technologies. (…) I start by doing digital sketches. I’m fascinated by the computer as a creative tool and by the possibilities it opens up. When I proceed to paint, I particularly like a hard, cold support such as aluminium instead of canvas. But I’m also fond of traditional materials and techniques, I work a lot with tempera, alongside oil, gouache and acrylic.”
