At miart 2019, the juxtaposition of works by Vlatka Horvat and Ignacio Uriarte conveyed the artists’ understanding of the relationship between positive and negative space, while also revealing the relation between material and immaterial, a co-dependent relation between the works and how they “inhabit” the space of the booth. The two artists are not interested in complete annihilation of the object, but rather in the idea of the conveyor, which is anchored in carefully selected media, ranging from drawing and collage to objects, or something that exists on the edge of materiality.
